So fucking boring. What it tried to get across as meditative and contemplative just came off as shallow and unbearable. The music was terrible, everyone overacted, the cinematography, while not the worst thing about the film, was still pretty uninspired. And we shouldn’t even talk about how every character except Hester is a total caricature. The fact that Hester wasn’t a caricature didn’t help any because it made her motives totally unclear. She kept talking about her priest father but WHO CARES? God the dialogue was terrible. I’m surprised I stuck it through until the end. Also the trailer gave the entire film away. Like literally every “critical” moment was in the trailer.
